Day 2 Kingman to northeastern Arizona: Searching For Snow!

By: StormChaseMets , 9:06 PM GMT on February 23, 2012

Sorry guys-we forgot to post Day 2 and Day 5 blog entries while we were out on the road. Here's Day 2:

We began the day bright and early in Kingman, AZ. After spending some time looking at maps and last night’s snow totals, we were slightly worried we fell behind the storm. Fortunately there was plenty of moisture spreading northeastward across Arizona to fuel snow bands through the afternoon. We decided to head eastward to Flagstaff in hopes of catching some of these bands. On the way there, we stopped in Williams, AZ and checked out snowfall from a recent snow band that moved through the area in the morning. Heavy snowfall had covered the old buildings, storefronts, and historic trains of the town, creating a beautiful winter scene. After taking pictures around the town, we decided to take a break and have a fun snowball fight with Timmy and some of the Mitsubishi crew. Fun times indeed! After our break in Williams we headed to Flagstaff to wait for the next snow band. Unfortunately we hit a few dead zones along the way and lost our radar. After hours of driving and searching, we finally came across good snowfall in the higher elevations just north of Flagstaff. After getting great footage, we wrapped up our equipment and headed north to our final resting spot for the day in northeastern Arizona
