Only a few flurries expected for New Year's Eve in these parts. We are only going down the road to a neighbourhood party, but the forecast is good for those who will be doing a bit of travelling. The temperature is -15.5C (6F) with a slight northwesterly breeze. We are expecting overnight guests, so must get at the list provided by herself. Keep safe everyone and enjoy however you are celebrating the new year.

I'm late posting today's entry. I was up and away into town early this morning. I had lots of things on my list and then herself provided me with a "few" things that needed to be "picked up". Today was a very pleasant day and at 8:15 this evening the temperature is -6.5C (20F) and the winds are calm. I mentioned in yesterday's entry that the lake was good for skating. I also mentioned it to our daughter and the grandkids and their father showed up with a friend to practice ringette as you can see from the photo.

The rain and mild weather yesterday left a nice smooth surface on the lake--looks good for skating. The temperature at -1 (30.5F) would be OK, but the stiff northwesterly wind would make it somewhat uncomfortable. A trip to the Redemption Centre (bottles left behind by friends and relatives ;-)is on the list for today.

The day began with thick fog over and around the lake. It's starting to lift somewhat. The mild temperature is melting the snow and ice, sure hope the mild temperatures last long enough to get it all before the temperature drops. The temperature is 5C (40F) with calm winds. A good day to take down the outside decorations. Last year they were up until we got back in the spring.

A gift card, chare and debit cards, and a bit of cash was the sight I saw going out the door a few minutes ago. The Boxing Day crowds should be thinned out somewhat, but the bargains are still there--so I was told. A good day for shopping as we have a few snow flurries and a temperature that is just right for being inside the malls. The temperature is -9C (15F) with calm winds.

Bright and sunny with a cold temperature of -18C (0F) with a northwesterly breeze. A good day for those travelling (daughter and husband included as they are off to visit her inlaws). It's forecast to be a decent few days ahead. We are looking forward to a quiet restful day to recharge our batteries.

Merry Christmas everyone, I trust Santa found all the deserving bloggers. He had a wet trip in these parts. His trip started in freezing rain which turned to rain. The rest of the day looks good for those travelling. The temperature is 5C with calm winds. We spent the night with our daughter and am currently waiting for the grandkids to awaken (the seven year old had a difficult time to get to sleep). After opening presents here we are off to number one daughter's for the Christmas feast. Enjoy the day.

It's snowing at the moment and forecast to turn to rain and then freezing rain. The temperature is -3C (27F) with a very slight westerly breeze. It's a good thing we don't have to travel far to see the grandkids in action. Merry Christmas to all.

We got quite a blast of old man winter yesterday. He left a foot to snow which blew into four foot drifts in the most unwanted places (like the driveway and the path to the woodshed. It's bright and sunny with a temperature of -18C (0F) with just a slight northerly breeze. I have to redo my driveway, thanks to Mr. Wind and his overnight shinanigans.
By: YohoLake, 2:22 PM GMT on December 22, 2008
We are under blizzard conditions for most of the day--a real nor'easter. The temperature is -10C (15F) with strong northeasterly winds. I'm watching the wind blow the snow off the lake an into my driveway--no point in cranking up the snowblower until the wind dies down somewhat.
By: YohoLake, 1:31 PM GMT on December 21, 2008
We are forecast to have from 15-30 cm (9-19 in) of snow starting this evening and on into tomorrow. Another workout for the snowblower--can't wait to get out of here and head south. The temperature is -21C (-6F) with calm winds--too cold to snow at the moment. We are enjoying the grandkids who joined us for a sleepover last night.

Sunny but cold this morning. The temperature is -17C (2F) with a slight northeasterly breeze. We are heading "ta town" to run some errands, deliver some Christmas presents and have lunch with my father and stepmother.

Sunny but cold here today and fortunately, just a slight northwesterly breeze. The temperature is -18C (0F). It's a good thing that all I have to do today is get a haircut and get herself's car serviced.

The "over-the-hill gang" had their last curling match this morning until after New Year's. Maybe I'll get one more game in then, before we head to the land of Palmettobug and Carolinagal. The current temperature is -7C (20F) with calm winds and sunny all day. Some colder weather on the way.

A snowy day at the lake with 10-15cm (6-9 in) before it's done. The temperature is -9C (15F) with calm winds. A day to do the inside chores that have been put off for a while.
By: YohoLake, 1:45 PM GMT on December 16, 2008
The mild weather of yesterday and continuing today made short work of the little snow we had down and the ice on the driveway. It's forecast to get colder as the day moves along, currently it is right on the freezing mark, 0C (32F) with a northwesterly breeze. I'm off "ta town" shortly to run some errands and for a curling match.

It's mild and getting milder with some rain showers in the offing (typical Maritime weather--freezing one day and melting the next). The temperature is 2.3C (36F) with a slight southwesterly breeze. We thoroughly enjoyed the Christmas Cantata presented by an ecumenial choir, both junior and senior choirs of 60 members. Our small village church was packed.

A bright, sunny day, but cold this morning. The temperature is -15C (6F) with a slight northwesterly breeze. A busy day ahead starting with a brunch in town at a friends home and then to a Christmas Cantata this evening at our small, village church.

We have power now, but were without it for around ten hours yesterday, but the Open House went as planned. The candlelight ambiance was a big hit. Considering the lack of power we had a great turnout. Today's temperature is
-8C (17F) with a fairly strong norhterly breeze. Time to leave the 'puter and go help clean up the aftermath.
By: YohoLake, 2:16 PM GMT on December 12, 2008
Some heavy-duty freezing rain (ice rain) overnight, fortunately we did not lose our power (unlike many others in the area). It has now warmed up and we are getting rain, things are forecast to improve during the day. The temperature is 0C (32F). I hope it continues to improve as we are hosting a neighbourhood Christmas Open House this evening.

Cloudy at the moment, but a mixture of rain, snow and freezing rain forecast for this afternoon and tonight. The temperature is -6C (21.5F) with a northerly breeze. I hope the weather doesn't keep us from attending tonight's musical as number one daughter has a major part.
By: YohoLake, 2:24 PM GMT on December 10, 2008
We are getting some heavy rain and it's expected to continue all day and into the evening. We are also forecast to get warm (for this time of year) temperatures today and through the night. The snow we had is nearly gone and the lake ice is showing some open patches. The temperature is 9.5C (49F) and forecast to go to 11C (52F) with a strong southwesterly wind.
By: YohoLake, 1:35 PM GMT on December 09, 2008
Cloudy with warmer temperatures ahead and rain on the way tomorrow. The temperature is still a cold -14.5C (6F)with a slight southwesterly breeze. I'm off to town shortly for a curling match and to run some errands for herself.

Yesterday's forecast for "light snow". The "light snow" just kept coming and coming until we got around a foot and today have hight winds and very cold temps. The temperature is -14.5C (5.5F) with high northerly winds. It makes it very uncomfortable for the very necessary snow removal--necessary as herself has a bridge date this afternoon.
By: YohoLake, 5:34 PM GMT on December 07, 2008
I mentioned in yesterday's blog that the lake was frozen over, this is what it looked like looking South from our dock. Today it's white and snowing hard at the moment--time for another picture.
By: YohoLake, 1:37 PM GMT on December 07, 2008
We are getting a gentle snowfall this morning--not expected to amount to much. The temperature is -1C (30.5F) with calm winds. A busy day today, off to church shortly and then to an Open House at our nieces and then to dinner at daughter Julie's.
By: YohoLake, 2:06 PM GMT on December 06, 2008
The ice cover over the lake is quite thick this morning and looks like it will stay for the immediate fututure--lots of cold weather ahead. The temperature is -7.5C (19F) with calm winds (which is a good thing) and sunny skies. Will spend the day getting ready for a busy week of social activities, which includes and Open House at our place.

Lots of sun with just a few clouds, but quite chilly today. The temperature is -3.5C (26F) with a brisk Northeasterly breeze. I just got back from town after getting a new radio installed in the Santa Fe :-(
By: YohoLake, 1:16 PM GMT on December 04, 2008
Looks like a half decent day at the lake with temperature to get to 7 or 8C degrees. The temperature at the moment is 3C (37F) with a southwesterly breeze. I'm off to the curling rink shortly and then to the doctor's office.
By: YohoLake, 2:11 PM GMT on December 03, 2008
Sunny with a few thing clouds this morning. The temperature is -2C (28.5F) with a moderate westerly breeze. A day at home to tackle some inside and outside chores.
By: YohoLake, 1:38 PM GMT on December 02, 2008
Warmer than nomral today, but nothing really to brag about. The temperature is 2.5C (36.3F) with a westerly breeze under partly cloudy skies. I have to make a run "ta town" for a doctor's appointment and to run some errands.
By: YohoLake, 5:40 PM GMT on December 01, 2008
The temperature is warming up quickly, so the ice is falling off the trees. I took some pictures to show fellow bloggers what it looked like.

Here we are in the last month of the year and it's a what my grandfather used to call "a dirty day". We are currently getting freezing rain which is causing tree branches to bend under the weight. It won't last long as the temperature is warming up to 10C (50F). The current temperature is 0c (32F) with a strong easterly breeze. Herself is having her bridge group in this afternoon, so have to make myself scarce.
