Watches & Warnings

Areal Flood Watch
Issued: 2:46 PM EST Feb. 21, 2018 – National Weather Service

... Flood Watch now in effect through Thursday morning...

The Flood Watch is now in effect for

* all of central and northern Vermont as well as portions of
northern New York, including the Saint Lawrence River valley.

* Through Thursday morning.

* Rapid snow melt and river ice breakup will continue the threat
for localized ice jam related flooding overnight.

* Areas where ice jams remain in place from the mid-January thaw
will be the most susceptible to flooding. Some of these rivers
include but are not limited to the following: the little Salmon,
St regis, Saranac, great Chazy, ausable, LaMoille, missisquoi,
Winooski, and Passumpsic.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
