... Lake effect snow warning remains in effect until 4 PM EST
Saturday...

* accumulations... a foot or more of snow is likely in parts of
northern Geauga County and eastern inland Erie County
Pennsylvania today into tonight where snow squalls persist.
Elsewhere 2 to 6 inches of snow is expected today with another 2
to 6 inches tonight. Storm total snow... including the snow from
Thursday... will average 8 to 15 inches with totals as high as 24
inches in eastern Erie County Pennsylvania.

* Timing... the heaviest and most persistent snow and snow squalls
today into tonight will occur in northern Geauga County and
eastern Erie County Pennsylvania. The snow bands will vary in
intensity elsewhere. Snow showers will continue into Saturday
and are expected to be heavy at times.

* Impacts... lake effect snow and snow squalls will lead to
significant accumulations of snow and very poor visibilities
at times. Hazardous travel conditions are expected.

* Winds... west 10 to 20 mph. Gusts to 30 mph this afternoon.

* Temperatures... in the 20s today. Lows in the teens tonight.
Wind chill values in the teens today and possibly dipping into
the single digits tonight.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A lake effect snow warning is issued when heavy lake effect snow
is expected or occurring. During lake effect snow... the weather
can vary from bands of locally heavy snow to dry weather just a
few miles away. Visibilities can vary greatly and can drop to
near zero in the heavier lake effect snow bands. If you will be
traveling in the warned area be prepared for rapid changes in
weather... visibility and Road conditions. Local travel
restrictions may be in effect.

At 1127 am EST, radar indicated intense snow squalls along a line
extending from near North East to near Girard to near Geneva-On-The-
Lake to near Euclid, moving southeast at 30 mph.

Hazards include...
winds to 30 mph...
visibility rapidly dropping to less than a quarter of a mile...

Locations impacted include...
Cleveland, Erie, Warren, Painesville, Ashtabula, Willowick,
Meadville, Conneaut, Chardon, Jefferson, Geneva-On-The-Lake,
Lakewood, Euclid, Mentor, Cleveland Heights, Solon, Willoughby,
Niles, Eastlake and Warrensville Heights.
