The National Weather Service in Indianapolis has issued a

* Flood Warning for...
southeastern Hamilton County in central Indiana...
southeastern Hendricks County in central Indiana...
Marion County in central Indiana...

* until midnight EDT

* at 900 PM EDT... Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
that 2 to 3 inches with locally higher amounts had fallen in a
little over an hour from the thudnerstorms earlier this evening.
While the rain has ended... flooding continues across the warned
area. The Flood Warning will replace the Flash Flood Warning set
to expire at 915 PM.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Indianapolis... Carmel... Fishers... Lawrence... Plainfield...
Beech Grove... Speedway... Southport... Avon... Cumberland...
Meridian Hills... Warren Park... Homecroft... Rocky Ripple...
Williams Creek... Wynnedale... Spring Hill... Crows Nest...
North Crows Nest and Indiana state Fairgrounds.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around... don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams... urban areas... highways... streets and
underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.

... The Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 915 PM EDT for
southeastern Hamilton... northwestern Hancock... northwestern
Johnson... northern Morgan... southeastern Hendricks and Marion
counties...

At 710 PM EDT... Doppler radar indicated heavy rain and thunderstorms
across the warned area. Storms were moving slowly east and were
aligned from Fishers south-southwest across the eastern Indianapolis
Metro to near Greenwood. Storms have weakened slightly since 645 PM.

Flash flooding is already occurring with numerous roads flooded
across the Indianapolis Metro area. Indianapolis International
Airport has received 1.82 inches of rain since 6 PM.

Plainfield... Brownsburg... Beech Grove... Speedway... Mooresville...
Danville... Southport... Avon... Cumberland... McCordsville...
