The National Weather Service in Great Falls has issued a

* Flood Warning for...
snowmelt in...
northwestern Madison County in southwestern Montana...
northwestern Beaverhead County in southwestern Montana...

* until 300 PM MDT Monday.

* At 300 am MDT, the Big Hole river near Melrose reached flood stage
at 6 feet and additional rises are likely over the next several
days as snowmelt increases with warming temperatures.

* Point forecast for the Big Hole river near Melrose.
    * At 3:00 am Sunday the stage was 6.0 feet.
    * Flood stage is 6.0 feet.
    * Moderate flooding is forecast.
    * Forecast... rise further above flood stage this morning and
      continue to rise to near 7.8 feet by Thursday night.
    * Impacts... at 6.2 feet, water starts to affect areas near Glen.
At 7 feet, agricultural land floods and irrigation systems need to
be protected.

* Some locations that may experience flooding include...
Wisdom, Melrose, Wise River, Dewey and Glen.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from snowmelt may cause flooding of small creeks
and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying spots.

Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you
can do so safely.
