Watches & Warnings

High Surf Warning
Issued: 4:28 PM HST Mar. 25, 2017 – National Weather Service

... High surf warning remains in effect until 6 am HST Monday...

* surf... along west facing shores of The Big Island... rising to
8 to 12 feet. The highest surf is expected along the coast
extending south from Kailua Kona to South Point.

* Timing... tonight through Sunday night.

* Impacts... high... expect ocean water occasionally sweeping
across portions of beaches... very strong breaking waves... and
strong longshore and rip currents. Breaking waves may
occasionally impact harbors making navigating The Harbor
channel dangerous.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Large breaking surf... significant shorebreak... and dangerous
currents make entering the water very hazardous. Always heed
lifeguard advice and know your limits. When in doubt... do not go
out.
