... Blizzard Warning in effect from 9 PM this evening to 6 am akst
Wednesday...

* what... blizzard conditions expected. Travel will be very
dangerous to impossible. Damage to power lines is possible.
Total snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches are expected.

* Where... southern Seward Peninsula coast.

* When... 9 PM today to 6 am Wednesday.

* Additional details... winds gusting as high as 60 mph will
cause whiteout conditions in blowing snow. Significant
drifting of the snow is likely.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Blizzard Warning means severe winter weather conditions are
expected or occurring. Falling and blowing snow with strong winds
and poor visibilities are likely. This will lead to whiteout
conditions, making travel extremely dangerous.





Coastal Flood Warning

... Coastal Flood Warning in effect from 3 PM Tuesday to noon akst
Wednesday...

The National Weather Service in Fairbanks has issued a coastal
Flood Warning, which is in effect from 3 PM Tuesday to noon akst
Wednesday.

* Location... mainly east of Nome around Golovin.

* Coastal flooding... storm surge 6 to 8 feet above the normal
high tide line.

* Timing... winds will increase Tuesday morning and storm surge
with storm surge pushing onshore in the afternoon.

* Impacts... major erosion is expected with this storm along the
coast. In Golovin waters will rise and the old runway will
become inundated. Water is expected to rise high enough to
impact all areas northwest of the Post office, including the
school. Residents should prepare by moving valuables well
above the normal high tide line.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A coastal Flood Warning means that rising sea water that causes
flooding is expected. Coastal residents in the warned area should
be alert for rising water and take actions to protect life and
property.
