Lake Effect Snow Warning
Issued: 2:41 PM CST Dec. 7, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Lake effect snow warning remains in effect from 10 PM EST
/9 PM CST/ this evening to 7 am EST /6 am CST/ Saturday...

Hazardous weather...

* lake effect snow is expected to move into the area late this
evening and continue into early Saturday.

* Northwest winds gusting up to 25 mph near Lake Superior will
lead to patchy blowing and drifting snow.

* Expect 4 to 10 inches of snow to accumulate tonight through
Thursday. Several more inches of lake effect snow will occur
Thursday night through Friday night. The most snow will fall over
the the higher terrain near Lake Superior... including at Ironwood
and Bergland... while the least snow will occur inland toward
   Watersmeet and Paulding.

Impacts...

* roads will become snow covered and slippery.

* Moderate to heavy snow and patchy blowing snow will reduce
visibilities. The lowest visibilities... less than one-half mile at
   times... are expected on Thursday.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

* a lake effect snow warning means significant amounts of lake-
effect snow are forecast that will make travel very hazardous
   or impossible.

* Prepare... plan... and stay informed. Visit www.Weather.Gov/MQT
