Thursday...

* what... heavy snow showers and blowing snow will cause periods of
poor visibility. Storm total snow accumulations of 4 to 6 inches
are expected by early Wednesday.

* Where... western Arctic coast.

* When... through 6 am Thursday.

* Additional details... snow showers will continue through early
Thursday. The snow showers will be heavy at times causing very
low visibility. Winds gusting to 30 mph this morning will
cause areas of blowing and drifting snow with low visibility.

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow and blowing snow means periods
of snow and blowing snow will cause travel difficulties.

* location... along the coast from Wainwright to Point Lay.

* Waves... will cause high surf.

* Winds... north gusting to 30 mph.

* Timing... strong north winds are causing waves to push onshore.
The strongest winds and highest surf are expected early this
morning. The winds and surf will decrease this afternoon.

* Impacts... surf will wash to the top of the beach. Minor beach
erosion is expected.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A high surf advisory means that localized beach erosion is
expected. Precautions should be taken to protect property.
