Issued: 2:53 AM MST Jan. 19, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect from 8 PM this evening
to 5 PM MST Saturday...

* locations include the cities of... Cortez... Dove Creek...
Mancos... Durango... Bayfield... Ignacio... Pagosa Springs.

* Timing... a rain or a rain snow mix begins Thursday afternoon
and changes to all snow Thursday evening. Moderate snowfall is
possible through Friday morning. Occasional lulls are expected
through the day Friday before the next system arrives Friday
evening. Moderate to heavy snowfall is possible through
Saturday morning.

* Snow accumulation... 5 to 10 inches with locally higher amounts
possible especially at higher elevations.

* Snow level... near 6500 feet Thursday afternoon then lowering
to all elevations by Thursday evening.

* Winds... southwest 5 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.

* Impacts... roadways will be slushy to snow packed by Thursday
evening leading to winter driving conditions through the
weekend. Visibilities will be reduced to under a half of a
mile a times with moderate to heavy snow rates occurring.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow are
expected or occurring. Strong winds and blowing snow are also
possible. This will make travel very hazardous or impossible.
