Watches & Warnings

Areal Flood Watch
Issued: 12:54 AM EST Feb. 21, 2018 – National Weather Service

... Flood Watch remains in effect through this evening...

The Flood Watch continues for

* a portion of central New York... including the following
counties... Jefferson... Lewis and Oswego.

* Through this evening.

* Warm temperatures will result in considerable snow melt. In
addition, previous rainfall between a half and one inch with an
additional half inch possible later today will result in
considerable runoff into area creeks and rivers.

* Significant rises are expected on waterways, including the
Black River, and its tributaries, along with the potential for
general lowland flooding. Flooding along the Black River may
last through the end of the week due to slow response times.
Ice jam flooding is also possible.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts. You should monitor later forecasts and be
alert for possible flood warnings.

Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to
take action should flooding develop. Stay tuned to weather radio
or other radio and TV stations for further details or updates
