Watches & Warnings

Lake Effect Snow Warning
Issued: 12:41 PM EST Dec. 12, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Lake effect snow warning remains in effect until 7 PM EST
Wednesday...

* what... heavy lake effect snow and blowing snow expected. Travel
will be very difficult at times. Additional snow accumulations
of 8 to 14 inches are expected in the most persistent lake
snows.

* Where... Wyoming, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and southern Erie
counties. Greatest snow amounts will focus inland from Lake Erie
on the higher terrain of the Chautauqua ridge, Boston Hills, and
Wyoming County.

* When... until 7 PM Wednesday.

* Additional details... winds gusting as high as 40 mph will
produce significant blowing and drifting snow. This will combine
with heavy snow to produce very difficult travel at times, with
very low visibility and deep snow cover on roads.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Heavy snow will fall in relatively narrow bands. If traveling, be
prepared for rapidly changing Road conditions and visibilities.
