Flash Flood Warning

The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
southeastern Allegheny County in southwestern Pennsylvania...

* until 600 PM EDT.

* At 255 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Up to one inch of rain has
already fallen. Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Pittsburgh, Mount Lebanon, Bethel Park, Monroeville, McKeesport,
West Mifflin, Baldwin, Whitehall, South Park township, Munhall,
Jefferson Hills and North Versailles.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as
well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.

Flash Flood Watch
Issued: 11:11 AM EDT Jun. 23, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through late tonight...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of Garrett County Maryland, east central Ohio,
southwest Pennsylvania, and northern West Virginia including
most of the northern Panhandle.

* Through 2am Saturday. There will be a several hour period of
rain from late this afternoon through midnight across much of
the watch area.

* Rainfall amounts up to 2.5 inches are possible due to the
remnants of Cindy and an approaching cold front. Rainfall
amounts could be upwards of 4 inches if a location experiences a
series of thunderstorms this afternoon and evening.

* Flooded roads along with streams and creeks out of their banks
are likely where the heaviest rainfall occurs.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
