* until 130 PM EST Monday

* at 729 am EST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
heavy rain which will cause minor flooding. Overflowing poor
drainage areas will result in minor flooding in the advisory area.
Between 1.5 to 2.0 inches of rain has fallen along the Blue Ridge
Parkway between Roanoke and Fancy Gap.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as
well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate Route.

When it is safe to do so, please send your reports of flooding,
including mudslides or flooded roads, to the National Weather Service

... Wind Advisory remains in effect from 6 PM this evening to noon
EST Tuesday...

* locations... the mountains of northwest North Carolina, and the
Virginia Blue Ridge southwest of Roanoke.

* Hazards... very windy conditions.

* Winds... northwest 20 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph.

* Timing... tonight through Tuesday morning.

* Impacts... due to the wet ground, these strong winds may blow
down trees. Scattered power outages are also possible.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Wind Advisory is issued when sustained winds are forecast to be
31 to 39 mph or gusts will range between 46 and 57 mph. Winds of
these magnitudes may cause minor property damage without extra
precautions. Motorists in high profile vehicles should use extra
caution until the winds subside.
