Watches & Warnings

Flash Flood Warning
Issued: 5:53 PM EDT Sep. 29, 2016 – National Weather Service

... The Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 845 PM EDT for
eastern Pulaski... southwestern Floyd... southwestern Montgomery and
eastern Carroll counties and the city of Radford...

Between 1 inch... and 2.5 inches of rain has fallen between Radford
Virginia and Hillsville. This rainfall resulted in significant
rises along area streams. Thunderstorms are expected to move back
into Carroll County between 7:00 and 8:00 PM. These storms will
likely produce an additional 1 inch to 2 inches of rain. As such... a
Flash Flood Warning will remain in effect... due to a high likelihood
these streams and creeks will come out of there banks once this
additional heavy rainfall commences after 7:00 PM.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Radford...
Hillsville...
Dublin...
Cana...
and Fancy Gap.

Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 are possible in the warned
area. Be prepared to move to higher ground if you live along a
small creek or stream.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

In hilly terrain there are many low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate Route.

If you observe flooding... please send your reports of flooding...
including mudslides or flooded roads... to the National Weather
Service by calling toll free at 1... 8 6 6... 2 1 5... 4 3 2 4. Reports
and pictures can also be shared on the National Weather Service
Blacksburg facebook Page and on twitter.
