The National Weather Service in Charleston West Virginia has issued a

* Flood Warning for...
McDowell County in southern West Virginia...
southeastern Mingo County in southern West Virginia...
west central Wyoming County in southern West Virginia...

* until 945 PM EDT

* at 351 PM EDT, light to moderate rain continues to fall across the
area and will persist through tonight. Area creeks, streams,
culverts, and roadside ditches will likely have a difficult time
handling additional rainfall.

* Low water crossings and roads near creeks and streams will
experience flooding, as well as other low lying areas. Poorly
maintained culverts and roadside ditches will also flood. Debris
flows are possible as well. Road closures are expected.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Welch, Gary, War, Northfork, Gilbert creek, Bradshaw, Iaeger,
Keystone, Anawalt, Kimball, Panther, Jolo, Maybeury, Elbert,
Coalwood, Avondale, Cucumber and Jenkinjones.

... Flash Flood Watch now in effect through Monday afternoon...

The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for

* portions of southwest Virginia and southern West Virginia,
including the following areas, in southwest Virginia, Buchanan
and Dickenson. In southern West Virginia, McDowell and
Wyoming.

* Into Monday afternoon

* another wave of heavy rainfall is expected tonight into Monday.
This could lead to flash flooding, particularly along flood
prone creeks and streams, and adjacent low lying areas.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should warnings be issued.
