Special Statement
Issued: 9:29 AM EDT Mar. 28, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Increased rip current threat for both NC and SC beaches during
Tuesday...

Increasing surf conditions across all beaches during Tuesday will
result with an increase to the number and strength of rip
currents. Although, the surf zone forecast has not officially
started, the rip current threat would be similar to a moderate
rip current risk. The peak occurrence of rip currents occurs
within a 4 hour window centered on low tide. For the NC beaches,
low tides for Tuesday will occur between 230 PM and 300 PM.

With an increase in beach-GOES during times of warm weather this
early Spring season, statements like these may be needed outside
the official surf zone forecast which begins April 14, 2017.
