* at 1217 am EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from 4 miles northwest of downtown Asheville to 6 miles
northeast of Brevard to 17 miles northwest of Pickens, moving
southeast at 45 mph.

Hazard... 60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail.

Source... radar indicated.

Impact... expect damage to trees and power lines.

* Locations impacted include...
Hendersonville, Marion, Rutherfordton, Columbus, Taylors, Arden,
Berea, Black Mountain, welcome and Fletcher.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Scattered trees and power lines will be blown down in the warned
area. Seek shelter inside an interior room.

These storms are also producing extremely heavy rainfall. Flooding of
drainage ditches and low lying areas may occur. Small streams will
rise rapidly. Do not drive through areas where water is flowing over
the Road.
