Watches & Warnings

Wind Advisory
Issued: 2:23 AM EST Jan. 23, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Wind Advisory in effect from 8 am this morning to 7 PM EST
this evening...

The National Weather Service in Miami has issued a Wind Advisory,
which is in effect from 8 am this morning to 7 PM EST this
evening.

* Timing... later this morning into this evening.

* Winds... sustained west winds of 20 to 25 mph with frequent
gusts to around 35 mph.

* Impacts... strong and gusty winds can blow lightweight objects
around, make driving conditions difficult, and also make
boating conditions hazardous on the Intracoastal Waterway.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Wind Advisory means that winds of 35 mph are expected. Winds
this strong can make driving difficult... especially for high
profile vehicles. Use extra caution.

Gale Warning, Small Craft Advisory
Issued: 3:54 PM EST Jan. 23, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Gale Warning remains in effect until 11 PM EST this evening...
... Small Craft Advisory now in effect from 11 PM this evening to
7 PM EST Tuesday...

* winds and seas... northwest winds 20 to 30 kt with gusts up to 40
kts decreasing to 15 to 25 kts with gusts to 30 kts after
midnight. Seas 7 to 10 feet.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Gale Warning means winds of 34 to 47 knots are imminent or
occurring. Operating a vessel in gale conditions requires
experience and properly equipped vessels. It is highly
recommended that mariners without the proper experience seek safe
Harbor prior to the onset of gale conditions.

A Small Craft Advisory means that wind speeds of 20 to 33 knots
are expected to produce hazardous wave conditions to small craft.
Inexperienced mariners... especially those operating smaller
vessels should avoid navigating in these conditions.
