The National Weather Service in Mobile has issued a

* Flood Warning for...
Choctaw County in southwestern Alabama...
northwestern Washington County in southwestern Alabama...
northern Clarke County in southwestern Alabama...
western Wilcox County in south central Alabama...
eastern Wayne County in southeastern Mississippi...

* until 515 am CDT

* at 1117 PM CDT, heavy rain that occurred earlier this evening has
lead to areal flooding for the warned area. Up to two inches of
rain has already fallen in many locations in the warned area.

* Some locations that will experience continued flooding include...
Thomasville, Butler, Pine Hill, Lisman, Millry, Buckatunna, Silas,
Coffeeville, Pennington, Fulton, Gilbertown, Toxey and Shawnee.

Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 3 inches are possible in the
warned area later tonight and on Saturday.

A Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until late Saturday night.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

... Forecast flooding increased from minor to moderate severity... the Flood
Warning continues for
the Alabama River near Claiborne dam - tailwater
* until further notice.
* At 7pm Friday the stage was... 42.4 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast
* flood stage is 42 feet.
* The river will continue rising to near 48 feet by early Tuesday morning then
begin falling.
* At 49 feet... recreational areas around The Lock and dam begin to flood.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Tombigbee river near LeRoy
* until further notice.
* At 8pm Friday the stage was 25.8 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 24 feet.
* The river will continue rising to near 26.6 feet by tomorrow morning then
begin falling.
* At 24 feet... flooding of low lying farm and pasturelands. Cattle in low
lying areas need to be moved to higher ground.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Tombigbee river near Coffeeville dam
* until further notice.
* At 7pm Friday the stage was 32.7 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 29 feet.
* The river will continue rising to near 36 feet by early Monday morning then
begin falling.
* At 40 feet... widespread flooding of Timber and pastureland. Portions of
State Highway 114 east of the river becomes covered by water.
* At 29 feet... pastureland becomes flooded. Livestock need to be moved to higher
ground. Old Ferry Road near the river begins to flood.

northeastern Clarke County in southwestern Alabama...
southwestern Wilcox County in south central Alabama...

* until 100 am CDT

* at 707 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Flash flooding is expected.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Thomasville, Grove Hill, Pine Hill, Fulton and Yellow Bluff.

... Flash Flood Watch now in effect through late Saturday night...

The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for

* a portion of southwest Alabama, including the following area,
Clarke.

* Through late Saturday night

* additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 3 inches with locally higher
amounts possible will fall on saturated ground conditions. These
additional rainfall amounts may result in flash flooding. In
addition to the risk of flash flooding, many area rivers are
now in or will soon go into minor to moderate flood.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
