Special Statement
Issued: 7:19 PM EST Dec. 9, 2016 – National Weather Service

... An intense snow band will affect lake... northern Trumbull...
southern Ashtabula... Geauga and northern Cuyahoga counties until 915
PM EST...

At 710 PM EST, radar indicated an intense snow band 7 miles north of
Lakewood, or 7 miles northwest of Cleveland extending east across
the Route 2, Route 90, and Route 271 spurs extending east into
southern Ashtabula County. The intense snow band is producing
periodic snow squalls reducing visibilities to less than one eighth
of a mile. Winds in the squalls could gust to 25 mph causing
blowing and drifting of the snow. This will further reduce the
visibilities to near zero at times.

Hazards include...
visibility rapidly dropping to less than one eighth of a mile...

Locations impacted include...
Cleveland, Painesville, Willowick, Chardon, Jefferson, Fairport
Harbor, Lakewood, Euclid, Mentor, Cleveland Heights, Westlake,
Willoughby, Eastlake, Warrensville Heights, Middlefield, Kinsman,
North Bloomfield, Orwell, Burton and Andover.

Use extra caution if you must travel into or through this
intense snow band. Rapid changes in visibility and slick roads are
likely to lead to accidents. Latest traffic flow information
indicates traffic has slowed to a crawl in the Route 2, Route 90,
and Route 271 spurs because of the heavy snow.

To report hazardous weather conditions, go to our website at
weather.Gov/cle and submit your report via social media, when you can
do so safely.
