Issued: 10:35 PM EDT Jun. 22, 2018 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Charleston West Virginia has extended
the

* Flood Warning for...
western Athens County in southeastern Ohio...

* until 745 am EDT Saturday.

* At 1032 PM EDT, the gage on Monday Creek at Doanville was at 18.5
feet, but it appeared to be cresting. Flood stage was 16 feet.
Between 16 and 19 feet, low spots on Lang, pancake and Brady roads
near Doanville begin to flood. The creek is expected to slowly
fall overnight.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Athens, Nelsonville, Glouster, Albany, Chauncey, Buchtel,
Jacksonville, Trimble and the plains.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. All
interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately.

Please report flooding to the National Weather Service by calling
toll free, 800 401 9535, when you can do so safely.

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until 2 am EDT Saturday...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of southeast Ohio and West Virginia, including the
following areas, in southeast Ohio, Athens, Gallia, Jackson
OH, Meigs, Morgan, Perry, Vinton, and Washington. In West
Virginia, Barbour, Braxton, Calhoun, Clay, Doddridge, Gilmer,
Harrison, Jackson WV, Kanawha, Lewis, Mason, northwest
Nicholas, northwest Pocahontas, northwest Randolph, northwest
Webster, Pleasants, Putnam, Ritchie, Roane, southeast
Nicholas, southeast Pocahontas, southeast Randolph, southeast
Webster, Taylor, Tyler, Upshur, Wirt, and wood.

* Until 2 am EDT Saturday

* multiple rounds of showers and storms are likely through
tonight. Rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected, with
locally higher amounts.

* Heavy amounts of rain in short periods of time may cause
creeks and streams to rapidly rise out of their banks, along
with the potential of flash flooding in urban areas.

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
