... A Flood Warning for urban areas and small streams remains in
effect until 1145 PM EST Thursday/1045 PM CST Thursday/ for
Elkhart... St. Joseph... northern Kosciusko... Starke... LaGrange...
Marshall... La Porte... Cass... St. Joseph and Berrien counties...

Trained weather spotters and emergency management reported flooding
across the warned area including southwest lower Michigan and
Northwest Indiana. Storm total rainfall of 3 to 6 inches were
reported from late Sunday night through late Tuesday night, with
localized amounts of 6 to 7 inches reported in the South Bend,
Bremen, Elkhart, and North Judson areas.

Many roads remain closed. Others remain open with water impeding
traffic on one or more lanes. Many rivers are approaching or have
exceeded record crest levels. Please reference the individual river
forecasts for more detailed information.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
South Bend, Elkhart, Mishawaka, Goshen, Michigan City, La Porte,
Warsaw, Niles, Sturgis, Benton Harbor, Plymouth, St. Joseph, Three
Rivers, Nappanee, Dowagiac, Westville, Winona Lake, Bremen, Buchanan
and Knox.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become
unstable and unsafe.
