... A Flood Warning remains in effect until 700 am EST Thursday for
Calhoun... Allegan... Van Buren... Jackson... Kent... Ottawa... Ingham...
Ionia... Barry... Clinton... Kalamazoo and Eaton counties...

At 344 PM EST, Doppler radar indicated numerous showers moving east
across the area. Two to inches of rain had already fallen and about
another inch is expected to fall the rest of this afternoon and this
evening.

Rainfall rates may locally top a half inch per hour in the heaviest
bands. Flooding conditions are expected to worsen into tonight with
an increasing likelihood of Road closures and threats to homes and
other buildings.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Grand Rapids, Lansing, Kalamazoo, Portage, Jackson, Holland, Ionia,
Grand Haven, Charlotte, Albion, Mason, St. Johns, Hastings, Marshall,
Belding, Eaton Rapids, Allegan, South Haven, Portland and Plainwell.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you
can do so safely.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Thornapple river above Hastings.
* From Wednesday morning to Tuesday February 27.
* At 2:15 PM Tuesday the stage was 5.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 7.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast, rise above flood stage by tomorrow morning and continue
to rise to near 9.0 feet by early Friday morning. The river will
fall below flood stage by Tuesday morning.
* Impact, at 10.0 feet... expect major flooding of River Road,
farmland, and homes in low lying areas adjacent to the river. Over
200 homes flooded in the Hastings area and homes flood in Nashville
on Water Street.
* Flood history, this crest compares to a previous crest of 8.5 feet
on Apr 9 2017.
