Watches & Warnings

Areal Flood Watch
Issued: 2:31 AM EDT Oct. 23, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Flood Watch remains in effect from 2 PM EDT this afternoon
through Tuesday morning...

The Flood Watch continues for

* portions of central Michigan, south central Michigan, and
southwest Michigan, including the following areas, in central
Michigan, Clare, Gratiot, Isabella, Mecosta, Montcalm, and
Osceola. In south central Michigan, Calhoun, Clinton, Eaton,
Ingham, Ionia, and Jackson. In southwest Michigan, Barry,
Kalamazoo, and Kent.

* From this afternoon through Tuesday morning

* widespread 1 to 3 precipitation amounts, some areas over 5
inches.

* Much of the watch area recently received significant rain. This
much additional rain over a large area would quickly turn to
runoff that would overwhelm some local drainage systems.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
