Winter Weather Advisory
Issued: 10:06 AM CST Jan. 16, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until midnight CST
tonight...

* short term trends... ice accumulations will increase into early
this afternoon as another round of light to moderate freezing
rain moves south to north across Iowa. The freezing rain may mix
with sleet at times until precipitation rates diminish by late
this afternoon or early this evening.

* Storm total snow/ice accumulations... ice accumulations up to a
tenth of an inch. A light snow/sleet mix is also possible with
accumulations of around an inch.

* Winds... east to northeast winds at 5 to 10 mph.

* Impacts... very hazardous travel due to ice covered and very
slick roads. Sidewalks and parking lots will be slick. Tree
damage and power outages are possible.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow, sleet, or
freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for
slippery roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while
driving.
