... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 6 am CST
Saturday...

* periods of moderate snow will continue today. The snow may be
heavy at times. The snow may mix with some sleet and freezing
rain or freezing drizzle at times south of Merrill.

* Total snow accumulation of 6 to 10 inches is expected. Some
minor icing is possible.

* Hazardous travel is expected through tonight, including this
mornings commute. The combination of snow and blustery northeast
winds will reduce visibilities to less than one half mile at
times and produce some drifting of the snow.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather
conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of
snow are forecast that will make travel hazardous. If you must
travel use extreme caution, or wait until the storm has ended.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Wisconsin river below Whiting dam.
* At 6:10 PM Thursday the stage was 1053 feet.
* Flood stage is 1053 feet.
* At 1053 feet... widespread flooding in wooded land adjacent to the
river. Floodwaters approach homes in low lying areas on park drive
west of Plover.

The combination of 1 to 3 inches of snow since midnight along
with blustery northeast winds were creating hazardous driving
conditions for the morning commute over central and northeast
Wisconsin. Visibilities were less than one half mile at times with
moderate snow. The winds were also producing some drifting of the
snow.

Roads are snow covered and slippery. Winter headlines are in
effect. Travel with caution this morning and allow extra time to
reach your destination.
