The Flood Warning continues for
the Cottonwood River at New Ulm.
* Until further notice.
* At 11:00 PM Sunday the stage was 15.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 11.0 feet.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 16.0 feet by
Wednesday morning then begin falling.
* Impact... at 13.1 feet... flood waters begin to impact Cottonwood
street west of the river.
* Impact... at 11.0 feet... flood waters begin to impact low lying
areas... and some roads along the river.

The National Weather Service in the Twin Cities has issued a

* Flood Warning for...
Faribault County in south central Minnesota...
Martin County in south central Minnesota...
southern Brown County in south central Minnesota...
Blue Earth County in south central Minnesota...
Watonwan County in south central Minnesota...

* until 730 am CDT Monday.

* At 1027 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated persistent moderate to
heavy rain that will cause flooding. Between 2 and 4 inches of
rain have already fallen, with the highest amounts over Martin and
Faribault counties.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Fairmont, St. James, Blue Earth, Lake Crystal, Wells, Madelia,
Mapleton, Winnebago, Sherburn, Truman, Trimont and Minnesota Lake.

Additional rainfall amounts of two to four inches, with locally
higher amounts, are possible in the warned area through the
overnight hours.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become
unstable and unsafe.

Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you
can do so safely.
