... Flood Watch now in effect through Wednesday afternoon...

The Flood Watch is now in effect for

* a portion of northeast Montana, including the following areas,
central and southern valley, Dawson, Richland, and Sheridan.

* Through Wednesday afternoon.

* Ice is breaking up and flowing along many of the rivers and
streams across the region. This includes the Yellowstone river
in the Glendive area. A new ice jam could form and bring quickly
rising water levels.

* An ice jam has formed on the milk river in the Glasgow area.
This has caused the river level to rise to 22.4 feet as early
this morning. Flood stage for the milk river at Glasgow is 25
feet.

* Water continues to rise on big Muddy Creek in Sheridan County.
The gage near Antelope was near 11.0 feet early this morning or
just below the flood state of 12 feet. Low land flooding is
possible in the next few days.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
