The National Weather Service in Great Falls has extended the

* Flood Warning for...
snowmelt in...
south central Broadwater County in southwestern Montana...
northern Madison County in southwestern Montana...
southeastern Jefferson County in southwestern Montana...
northwestern Gallatin County in south central Montana...

* until 145 am MDT Friday.

* Snowmelt will cause continued rises along the Jefferson river
through early next week, with flooding lingering into late next week
or longer.

* Point forecast for the Jefferson river near Three Forks.
    * At 10:00 am Saturday the stage was 8.3 feet.
    * Flood stage is 8.0 feet.
    * Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
    * Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 8.4 feet by
      Saturday evening, with additional rises to near 8.5 by Wednesday.
    * Impacts... at 8.5 feet, County roads and bridges and some homes
      around Three Forks may be impacted by flood waters.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Those planning to recreate on or near the Jefferson river over
Memorial Day weekend are encouraged to be mindful of fast flows,
higher water levels, and cold water temperatures.

Those not experiencing flooding now, may begin to see flooding by
this weekend or early next week.

The National Weather Service in Great Falls has extended the

* Flood Warning for...
snowmelt in...
northwestern Madison County in southwestern Montana...
northwestern Beaverhead County in southwestern Montana...

* until 300 PM MDT Wednesday.

* Snowmelt will cause continued rises along the Big Hole river
through early next week, with flooding along the river lingering
into late next week.

*Point forecast for the Big Hole river near Melrose.
    * At 05/26 10:15 the stage was 6.9 feet.
    * Flood stage is 6.0 feet.
    * Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
    * Forecast... the river will continue to rise to near 7.1 feet by
      Tuesday.
    * Impacts... water will continue to impact agricultural land
      along the river, as well as a couple of homes in the meriweather
      subdivision. Water may also impact sections of Burma Road.
      Irrigation equipment near the river needs to be protected.
