Issued: 3:08 PM CST Jan. 19, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Dense fog advisory in effect from 9 PM this evening to 9 am
CST Friday...

The National Weather Service in Lincoln has issued a dense fog
advisory... which is in effect from 9 PM this evening to 9 am CST
Friday.

* Visibility... localized areas will see visibility down to a
quarter mile this evening... with the dense fog becoming more
widespread after midnight. The fog should begin to lift around
mid morning Friday.

* Impacts... drivers should be prepared for rapidly changing
visibility. Be alert for slow moving traffic... especially Friday
morning during the commute to work or school.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A dense fog advisory means visibilities will frequently be
reduced to less than one quarter mile. If driving... slow down...
use your headlights... and leave plenty of distance ahead of you.

Special Statement
Issued: 3:13 AM CST Jan. 19, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Minor flooding expected on many area creeks and streams...

Scattered rain showers will develop across central and southeast
Illinois this morning, then will become numerous this afternoon
and evening as an upper-level disturbance tracks through the
region. A few thunderstorms will be possible later today as well.
Rainfall amounts will generally be around one half inch... but
will be higher within thunderstorms. Since the ground remains
frozen or partially frozen, much of the rain that falls will run
off... creating rises on many area creeks and streams. Motorists
should exercise caution when traveling on low-lying country roads
near local streams... as minor flooding will be possible in these
areas.
