* Flood Warning for...

* at 1158 am CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain that will cause
flooding. Rainfall amounts up to 5 inches of rain have fallen the
past few days, with an additional inch or two likely today. Law
enforcement indicates areas of ongoing flooding from the previous
rainfall, which will be worsened by additional rain.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Danville, Charleston, Mattoon, Vincennes, Effingham, Olney, Paris,
Robinson, Flora, Shelbyville, Tuscola, Sullivan, Lawrenceville,
Marshall, Newton, Toledo, Savoy, St. Joseph, Georgetown and Tolono.

This includes the following highways...
Interstate 57 between mile markers 143 and 228.
Interstate 70 between mile markers 79 and 154.
Interstate 74 between mile markers 195 and 220.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. All
interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Wabash River at Riverton.
* Until further notice.
* At 11:00 am Sunday the stage was 17.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 22.9 feet by
Friday morning then begin falling.
* At 22.0 feet... flooding becomes more serious. Water is approaching
critical levels on most levees. Flooding enters some river Cabins.
Flooding is at the outskirts of Palestine and Russellville,
Illinois. Flood waters near Illinois 33 between Palestine and
Hutsonville, Illinois. Many local river roads are flooded.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Wabash River at Hutsonville legacy Power Plant site.
* Until further notice.
* Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* Forecast... the river is forecast to have a maximum value of 24.3
feet early Friday morning.
* At 24.0 feet... extensive flooding is in progress. Rural roads in
eastern Clark and Crawford counties in Illinois are impassible. A
few Mobile home residences and area along Hutson creek just south
of Hutsonville flood. Flood is at critical level for most of
levees. Extensive seep water is behind levees. Water surrounds
residential areas of Riverton, Riverview, Hutsonville and eastern
York.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Wabash River at Terre Haute.
* Until Tuesday may 09.
* At 11:00 am Sunday the stage was 15.2 feet.
* Flood stage is 14.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 22.1 feet by
Wednesday early afternoon. The river will fall below flood stage
early Tuesday morning.
* At 22.0 feet... much of the formerly protected area behind the Honey
Creek levee located in southern Vigo County is flooded. Flooding
closes most local roads and affects several residences.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Embarras River at ste. Marie.
* From late tonight until Saturday may 6.
* At 845 PM Saturday the stage was 16.8 feet.
* Flood stage is 19 feet.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by early tomorrow morning and
continue to rise to near 24.1 feet by Tuesday morning. The river
will fall below flood stage by Friday evening.
* Impact... at 19.0 feet, County Highway 9 floods between ste. Marie
and Willow Hill. At 21.0 feet, water overtops a few private levees
near ste. Marie.

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through Monday morning...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of central Illinois, east central Illinois, southeast
Illinois, and west central Illinois, including the following
areas, in central Illinois, Christian, De Witt, Logan, Macon,
Mason, McLean, Menard, Piatt, Shelby, Tazewell, and Woodford.
In east central Illinois, Champaign, Clark, Coles, Cumberland,
Douglas, Edgar, Moultrie, and Vermilion. In southeast
Illinois, Clay, Crawford, Effingham, Jasper, Lawrence, and
Richland. In west central Illinois, Cass, Morgan, and Scott.

* Through Monday morning

* periods of heavy rainfall are expected through this evening.
Around another 1 inch of rain is expected by midnight tonight,
with locally 1 to 2 inch amounts from heavier rains in
stronger thunderstorms. The threat of heavy rain will diminish
with passage of a cold front during mid evening, but runoff
from heavy rains will likely continue through tonight.

* In addition to potential flooding of streets and roads in
flood prone areas, area rivers and streams are also likely to
experience flooding. This would persist for several days after
the rain ends.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation
especially if driving. Never drive across a flooded roadway. You
should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
