The Flood Warning continues for
the Wabash River at Vincennes.
* From Monday afternoon until further notice.
* At 9:45 PM Friday the stage was 7.3 feet.
* Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by Monday early afternoon and
continue to rise to near 25.3 feet by Monday morning. Additional
rises are possible thereafter.
* At 25.0 feet... water is at critical stage for England Pond levee on
Illinois side. Pearl City extensively floods. Installation of
flood gates is required for the city of Vincennes. Flooding occurs
in old Vincennes area. Extensive agricultural flooding continues.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Wabash River at Riverton.
* From Sunday evening until further notice.
* At 10:00 PM Friday the stage was 8.1 feet.
* Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by Sunday before midnight and
continue to rise to near 25.0 feet by Saturday morning.
* At 25.5 feet... approaching major flooding with sandbagging possible
in Hutsonville and on local levees. Installation of Gill township
flood gage at Riverton is necessary if river continues to rise.
State Road 154 between Hutsonville and Graysville is closed. All
river roads improved or otherwise are flooded, some by several feet
of water. East side of Palestine extensively flooded including all
of Leaverton Park.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Wabash River at Hutsonville legacy Power Plant site.
* From Sunday afternoon until further notice.
* Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* Forecast... the river is forecast to have a maximum value of 25.5
feet Friday evening.
* At 26.0 feet... Island Creek levee on Indiana side is in danger of
failing. There are 2 farms on higher ground in protected area. A
few evacuations are necessary in Illinois towns of Hutsonville,
York, and possibly Darwin. Local improved Road south of
Hutsonville to Palestine floods extensively in places.

The National Weather Service in Lincoln IL has issued a

* Flood Warning for
the Embarras River at Lawrenceville.
* From Sunday afternoon until further notice.
* At 845 am Friday the stage was 24.2 feet.
* Flood stage is 30.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by Sunday afternoon and continue
to rise to near 38.0 feet by Thursday afternoon.
* Impact... at 37.0 feet... the Road across Poteet bridge floods. Some
houses are isolated.

Flash Flood Watch
Issued: 9:40 PM CDT Apr. 28, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through Monday morning...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of central Illinois, east central Illinois, and
southeast Illinois, including the following areas, in central
Illinois, Christian, De Witt, Logan, Macon, McLean, Menard,
Piatt, Sangamon, and Shelby. In east central Illinois,
Champaign, Clark, Coles, Cumberland, Douglas, Edgar, Moultrie,
and Vermilion. In southeast Illinois, Clay, Crawford,
Effingham, Jasper, Lawrence, and Richland.

* Through Monday morning

* periods of heavy rainfall are expected over the weekend. By
Monday morning, a large area of 4 to 5 inches of rain is
expected between the Illinois River and I-57, with locally
heavier amounts around 6 inches between I-55 and I-57. Between
the I-57 corridor and the Indiana border, 3.5 to 4.5 inches
are expected. At the current time... the heaviest periods of
rain are expected Saturday afternoon into early Sunday as well
as another period Sunday night.

* In addition to potential flooding of streets and roads in
flood prone areas, area rivers and streams are also likely to
experience flooding. This would persist for several days after
the rain ends.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
