Dense Fog Advisory
Issued: 3:35 PM CST Jan. 19, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Dense fog advisory in effect until 8 am CST Friday...

The National Weather Service in Paducah has issued a dense fog
advisory, which is in effect from tonight until 8 am CST Friday.

The dense fog advisory will cover an area along and west of a line
from Interstate 57 through southwest Illinois, as well as east of
Interstate 55 to the Mississippi River in southeast Missouri.

* Visibility... due to the fog will be reduced in a widespread
manner, ranging between between zero and one quarter of a mile.
These reduced visibilities are expected to fall sharply after
sunset and spread was across southwest Illinois and the
remainder of southeast Missouri during the evening and overnight
hours. Some improvement in visibility may occur from the west
and southwest after daybreak on Friday.

* Impacts... travel on major interstates, state roads, and
secondary roadways will all be impacted by this dense fog. Be
sure to use low beam and fog lights, if available. If plan to
change lanes or move on or off the roadway, then signal your
intentions well ahead of time so that other drivers can react.
Allow extra time to reach your destination and do not drive
faster than the conditions allow.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A dense fog advisory means visibilities will frequently be
reduced to less than one quarter mile. If driving... slow down...
use your headlights... and leave plenty of distance ahead of you
