The National Weather Service in Wichita, KS has issued a

* Flood Warning for
the Arkansas River at Oxford.
* From this evening until Friday afternoon.
* At 8:45 am Wednesday the stage was 11.8 feet.
* Flood stage is 17.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by this evening and continue to
rise to near 18.0 feet by early Thursday morning. The river will
fall below flood stage by early Friday morning.
* Impact... at 18.0 feet... low lying agricultural fields flood north of
the river gage site.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Chikaskia river near Corbin.
* From this evening until late Thursday night.
* At 8:00 am Wednesday the stage was 4.9 feet.
* Flood stage is 10.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by this evening and continue to
rise to near 11.5 feet by Thursday morning. The river will fall
below flood stage by Thursday afternoon.
* Impact... at 10.0 feet... flooding of low-lying areas can be expected,
especially along the right bank.

The National Weather Service in Wichita has issued a

* Flood Warning for...
northwestern Cowley County in south central Kansas...
southeastern Sedgwick County in south central Kansas...
southwestern Butler County in south central Kansas...
Sumner County in south central Kansas...

* until 100 PM CDT Wednesday.

* At 504 am CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
that thunderstorms with heavy rainfall produced 2 to 3.25 inches
of rainfall overnight across the warned area. This will result in
rapid excessive runoff into streams... creeks... and rivers. Minor
flooding is likely along streams... creeks... low-lying and flood-
prone areas.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Derby... Andover... Haysville... Augusta... Wellington... Mulvane... Rose
Hill... Clearwater... Douglass... Belle Plaine... Towanda... Oxford...
Udall... Leon... South Haven... Geuda Springs... rock... Mayfield...
Hunnewell and Santa Fe Lake.

Additional rainfall amounts of 0.50 to 0.75 inches are possible in
the warned area.

Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become
unstable and unsafe.
