... Heat advisory in effect from noon to 8 PM CDT Wednesday...

The National Weather Service in Wichita has issued a heat
advisory... which is in effect from noon to 8 PM CDT Wednesday.

* Heat index values... up to 108 due to temperatures around
100... and relative humidity in the 35 to 45 percent range.

* Timing... heat indices will peak during the afternoon hours.

* Impacts... outdoor workers are at risk for heat exhaustion or
heat stroke this afternoon. Children and pets are also at risk
if left in unattended cars.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When
possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
stroke. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when
possible and drink plenty of water.

Temperatures within vehicles can become lethal in a few minutes.
Never leave children or pets in vehicles. Remember to beat the
heat, check the backseat.
