Winter Storm Watch
Issued: 1:56 AM MDT Apr. 28, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Winter Storm Watch in effect from Saturday morning through
Sunday evening...

The National Weather Service in Dodge City has issued a Winter
Storm Watch, which is in effect from Saturday morning through
Sunday evening.

* Timing... the event will start as all rain late Friday night and
into Saturday morning. A transition from rain to all snow is
expected Saturday afternoon and evening as colder air works in
from the northwest. The snow axis will spread to the east
Sunday with additional accumulation possible during this period.
Winds will also increase through the weekend with strong
northerly winds late Saturday and continuing through Sunday.

* Main impact... heavy wet snow with strong winds could result in
downed tree limbs and possible power outages.

* Other impacts... travel could become hazardous with slick roads
and reduced visibilities.

* Snow accumulation... 4 to 8 inches with locally higher amounts
to 10 inches. These amounts will be fine tuned as the event
draws near and certainty increases.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant
snow... sleet... or ice accumulations that may impact travel.
