Watches & Warnings

Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 3:39 PM CST Jan. 17, 2018 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Hastings has extended the

* flood advisory for rapid rises for...
an ice jam in...
northwestern Phelps County in south central Nebraska...
southwestern Buffalo County in south central Nebraska...
southeastern Dawson County in south central Nebraska...

* until 430 PM CST Friday

* at 335 PM CST, local law enforcement reported an ice jam causing
minor flooding along the Platte River in southeast Dawson County,
southwest Buffalo County and northern Phelps County. Minor low
land flooding will continue to be possible in and around ice jams
until they break up. Areas immediately downstream over
southwestern Buffalo County should also pay close attention for
the possibility of Rapid River rises and minor flooding should ice
jams give way sending the high water quickly downstream. This ice
jam may break up later this week as temperatures warm into the 50s.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you
can do so safely.
