Watches & Warnings

Areal Flood Watch
Issued: 1:41 PM CST Feb. 23, 2018 – National Weather Service

... Flood Watch remains in effect through Saturday evening...

The Flood Watch continues for

* portions of central Arkansas, north central Arkansas, and
western Arkansas, including the following areas, in central
Arkansas, Conway, Pope, and Yell. In north central Arkansas,
Baxter, Boone, Fulton, Izard, Marion, Newton, Searcy, sharp,
stone, and Van Buren. In western Arkansas, Johnson, Logan, and
Scott.

* Through Saturday evening

* heavy rain fell across much of the northern and western portion
of Arkansas over the last several days... with 3 to locally more
than 6 inches observed. Additional heavy rainfall is expected
through Saturday. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches
are forecast... with locally higher amounts possible.

* Given the recent heavy rainfall... the ground has become
saturated. As a result... the runoff potential has
increased... resulting in a high threat for flash and river
flooding through Saturday night. There have already been
numerous high water reports... including flooding of roads and
Road closures. Any more heavy rainfall may create additional
dangerous flooding situations.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
