Watches & Warnings

Areal Flood Watch
Issued: 10:59 PM CDT Aug. 16, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Flood Watch remains in effect until 7 am CDT Thursday...

The Flood Watch for flash flooding... flooding of creeks and
rivers... and flooding of low lying areas continues for

* portions of central Oklahoma, east central Oklahoma, and
southeast Oklahoma, including the following areas, in central
Oklahoma, Cleveland, Lincoln, McClain, and Pottawatomie. In
east central Oklahoma, Pontotoc and Seminole. In southeast
Oklahoma, Hughes.

* Until 7 am CDT Thursday

* thunderstorms will occur into the night over areas that have
already seen heavy rainfall amounts. This increases the
potential for flooding or flash flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop. Be especially
cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of
flooding.
