A moist, tropical environment is in place across southeast Texas
today and is favorable for producing tropical funnel clouds. Most
of these funnel clouds will be short-lived and will not reach the
ground. However, you should be prepared to seek shelter should one
of these funnel clouds reach the ground.

... Beach hazards statement in effect through late tonight...

The National Weather Service in Houston/Galveston has issued a
beach hazards statement for minor coastal flooding and
hazardous swimming conditions, which is in effect through late tonight.

* Hazards... minor coastal flooding and strong rip currents.

* Timing... through tonight.

* Location... low lying coastal areas and Gulf facing beaches.

* Potential impacts... possible water overwash of Highway 87 on the
Bolivar Peninsula and hazardous swimming conditions.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A beach hazards statement is issued when threats such as rip
currents... longshore currents... sneaker waves and other hazards
create life-threatening conditions in the surf zone. Caution
should be used when in or near the water.
