Watches & Warnings

Coastal Flood Advisory
Issued: 3:54 AM CDT Apr. 30, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Coastal flood advisory remains in effect until 7 am CDT this
morning...

* coastal flooding... above normal tide levels combined with wave
run-up due to high surf along the Gulf-facing coastal areas.
Water may back up in the inlets and Bay-facing sides of
Galveston Island... Matagorda Peninsula and Bolivar Peninsula.

* Timing... through around 7 am CDT this morning.

* Impacts... water levels may overcome dunes and possibly overwash
low-lying areas and roadways along Bolivar Peninsula, the west
end of Galveston Island, the Blue Water Highway, and beach drive
near Surfside. Wave run-up will make camping and driving on the
beach hazardous. Rip currents will be strong.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A coastal flood advisory indicates that onshore winds and tides
will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore.
