Flash Flood Watch
Issued: 3:35 PM CDT Jun. 20, 2018 – National Weather Service

... Flash Flood Watch now in effect through Thursday afternoon...

The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for

* a portion of south Texas, including the following areas,
Aransas islands, Bee, Calhoun islands, coastal Aransas,
coastal Calhoun, coastal Kleberg, coastal Nueces, coastal
Refugio, coastal San Patricio, Duval, Goliad, inland Calhoun,
inland Kleberg, inland Nueces, inland Refugio, inland San
Patricio, Jim Wells, Kleberg islands, Live Oak, Nueces
islands, and Victoria.

* Through Thursday afternoon

* persistent heavy rainfall due to tropical moisture has lead to
flash flooding over the watch area. On top of the 5 to over 10
inches of rainfall some areas will have received over the last
several days, rainfall rates of 1 to 3 inches per hour or
higher will likely cause water to rapidly accumulate over some
areas.

* Additional amounts of 1 to 3 inches can be expected across the
coastal Bend and Victoria Crossroads area tonight through
Thursday afternoon. As with nearly all flash flood events,
locally higher amounts can be expected.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
