Watches & Warnings

Winter Storm Watch, Winter Weather Advisory
Issued: 3:20 PM MST Jan. 21, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 8 PM MST this
evening...
... Winter Storm Watch in effect from Sunday evening through
Monday evening...

The National Weather Service in Pueblo has issued a Winter Storm
Watch... which is in effect from Sunday evening through Monday
evening.

* Location... the mountains of Lake County above 11000 feet... and
western Chaffee County above 11000 feet.

* Cause and timing... snow will continue this evening but it will become
light later tonight. A new storm system approaching from the
west will then bring periods of moderate to heavy snow beginning
Sunday night and continuing through at least Monday evening.

* Snow accumulation... additional amounts tonight of 1 to 3
inches... .with 8 to 15 inches possible from Sunday night through
Monday evening.

* Wind... southwest to west 10 to 20 mph.

* Impact... roads will become icy and snowpacked with hazardous
travel conditions expected over the mountain passes. Avalanche
danger will increase today.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow
will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow
covered roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while
driving.

A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant
snow... sleet... or ice accumulations that may impact travel.
