Watches & Warnings

Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 5:20 AM MST Feb. 28, 2017 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Flagstaff has issued a

* small stream flood advisory for...
Gila County in east central Arizona...
Yavapai County in west central Arizona...
Coconino County in north central Arizona...

* until 1115 am MST Tuesday

* at 514 am MST, river gauge reports indicated increasing flow along
numerous creeks and rivers in Yavapai and western Gila County. Up
to two inches of rain has fallen in the last 24 hours.

* Some waterways that will experience minor flooding include... wet
and dry Beaver Creek... Williamson Valley wash... west Clear Creek...
Granite creek... Fossil creek... east Verde river... Agua Fria river.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually deeper
than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful enough
to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded roads, make
the smart choice: turn around, don't drown.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, as well as low water crossings. Do not attempt
to travel across flooded roads. Find alternate routes.
