Watches & Warnings

Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 12:32 PM MDT Aug. 27, 2016 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
eastern Los Alamos County in north central New Mexico...
northwestern Santa Fe County in north central New Mexico...

* until 230 PM MDT

* at 1229 PM MDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
heavy rain due to nearly stationary thunderstorms over and up to 5
miles south and east of Los Alamos. Drainages from the vicinity of
Los Alamos east and southeast into the Rio Grande will be impacted
as well as area city streets and highways.

* Locations impacted include...
Los Alamos and White Rock.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Both localized and distant heavy rainfall will create dangerous flows
in arroyos and over low water crossings.
Do not attempt to drive through these waters. Water in arroyos may
travel many miles and take hours to reach
your location from upstream rain areas.

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely.
