Watches & Warnings

Fire Weather Warning
Issued: 1:41 PM MST Feb. 24, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Red flag warning now in effect until 6 PM CST /5 PM MST/ this
evening for relative humidity of 15 percent or less, 20 foot winds of
20 mph or more and high fire danger...

* temperatures: around 5 degrees above normal.

* Humidity: 5 to 10 percent.

* Fire danger: high to very high.

* Impacts... any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
Outdoor burning is not recommended.

Precautionary/preparedness actions... this is a very dangerous
fire weather situation. Gusty winds and very low relative
humidities combined with above normal temperatures will create
weather conditions favorable for the multiple occurrence of large
fires.

A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now or will shortly. A combination of strong
winds, low relative humidity and warm temperatures can contribute
to dangerous fire behavior.
