... Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 4 PM Wednesday to 4 am
PST Saturday...

The National Weather Service in Elko has issued a Winter Weather
Advisory for prolonged snowfall... which is in effect from 4 PM
Wednesday to 4 am PST Saturday.

* Storm total snow accumulations... 1 to 4 inches in Humboldt
County with highest amounts on Golconda Summit and in the north.
Elko County valleys... 2 to 5 inches in the south... 4 to 7 inches
in the north. Mountains... 8 to 16 inches. Highest amounts in the
north and on Pequop and h d summits. Northern Lander and
northern Eureka counties... 2 to 5 inches in the valleys.
Mountains... 6 to 10 inches. Highest amounts on Emigrant Summit.
Southeast Elko County... dusting to 3 inches with highest amounts
on Silver Zone Summit.

* Elevation: worst conditions above 6500 feet Wednesday evening... dropping
to 5000 feet by Thursday afternoon.

* Timing... beginning as rain or a mix of rain and snow Wednesday.
Changing to all snow by Thursday. A short break on Friday and
then resume as snow Friday evening.

* Winds... mostly less than 10 mph but periods of 15 to 20 mph with
some blowing snow.

* Impacts... main impacts to travel on summits of roads such as
Interstate 80... US highways 95... 93... 93 alternate... and state
routes 225... 227... 306... and 140. Icy spots and poor visibility
will make travel difficult at times.
