Winter Weather Advisory
Issued: 4:02 AM PST Dec. 7, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from 4 PM this
afternoon to 10 am PST Thursday...

* timing: snow will spread across the area tonight... then become
mixed with rain and snow in the valleys early Thursday morning.
There is a threat of freezing rain along I-80 east of Truckee.

* Snow accumulations: 2 to 5 inches... with 5 to 10 inches above
7000 feet.

* Freezing rain accumulations: up to 0.10" east of Truckee

* snow levels: all valley floors this evening... then rising
to over 7000 feet late Thursday morning with mixed winter
precipitation in the valleys.

* Impacts: a light coating of snow with black ice could create
very difficult travel conditions. Ice will also accumulate on
sidewalks... tree limbs and powerlines. Those with travel plans
are urged to maintain an increased awareness while driving
Wednesday night and Thursday morning. It could be especially
hazardous along I-80 east of Truckee.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Even light snowfall causes major travel delays, especially during
periods of high traffic volume. Be sure to allow extra time to
reach your destination. Leave extra space between vehicles since
it takes longer to stop on slick roadways.
