Watches & Warnings

High Surf Warning
Issued: 3:51 PM HST Nov. 22, 2017 – National Weather Service

... High surf warning remains in effect until 6 am HST Friday...

* surf... along north facing shores building to 25 to 30 feet with
occasional sets to 35 feet on outer reefs... and to 10 to 15
feet along east facing shores of Niihau Kauai Oahu Molokai Maui
and The Big Island.

* Timing... building rapidly this evening... peaking late tonight
into Thanksgiving day... then slowly declining Thursday night and
Friday.

* Impacts... high... expect ocean water occasionally sweeping
across portions of beaches... creating the potential for
impacts to coastal properties and infrastructure... including
roadways. In addition... expect very strong breaking waves...
and strong longshore and rip currents. Breaking waves may
occasionally impact harbors making navigating The Harbor
channel dangerous.

Precautionary/preparedness actions... large breaking surf...
significant shorebreak and dangerous currents make entering the
water very hazardous. Anyone entering the water could face
significant injury or death.
